How to Replace an Audi replacement key cost G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician shows you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. This sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU through the grey wire T55/49 and then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits a signal via the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then uses this information to control the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware when the crankshaft is TDC and where the camshaft is located so that it can trigger spark and injectors according to the situation.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will show a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and could indicate chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper chain of timing. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It can be a bit difficult to test since there are several connector pins, and each has its own functions. The best method for doing this is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read around 1000 ohms when it is at full operation. If you're experiencing issues with this sensor, look for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at a high speed I noticed a massive decrease in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors were not firing. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was dry. I put tissue over each injector hole, and when i start the engine with no sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The 4th one stays shut. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found zero ohm. I assume that the problem is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset PID without success. The car key cover audi will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it is running fine with the G28 plugged in. However the intermittent misfire issue still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when it is unplugged, shows a temperature of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do. I believe that I've eliminated everything else. I'm afraid i may have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal sent from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is similar to the G4 sender and both work on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate a spare in a wrecking shop or a parts store. Testing them is easy by putting your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and audi key fob 2 (2nd from the left on the black end of the connector). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU of our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines requires to know the position and speed of the crankshaft in order to make a decision about fuel injector timing, etc. To do this, it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If either of these sensors go wrong, you will receive codes on the diagnostic scanner that could cause engine shut down.

A damaged G28 sensor could result in an inaccurate gearbox speed counter and a gearbox which shifts more quickly than normal, or a misfire in gear. If you experience any of these problems, it is likely that your sensor is going bad and requires replacement audi a3 key. They are cheap and easy-to-find especially if they're a Bosch unit like ours. Alternatively, GM's version of this component is a good option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine speed sensor could be the cause of many issues in your vehicle. It's an essential component of the transmission of your audi tt key programming since it sends information to the ECU regarding how fast or slow the engine is spinning. If the sensor fails, it could affect the performance of the transmission, as well as the other car's components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is situated on the edge of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via a grey wire. The ECU then processes this signal to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost, and also sends it on to the G5 tachometer inside the instrument cluster. You can check for sensor failure by checking continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can examine the continuity between pins T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. There should be a resistance of approximately 1000 ohms between these points. This is a common feature across the audi key programming 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging beginning with the 1985 MC and up to the 1997 UrS AN and 1995 RS2 DU You may also find them in wrecking yards.holding-car-keys-woman-in-formal-clothes-is-indoo-2021-12-27-15-52-03-utc-min-scaled.jpg
