World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Upgrades to equipment in The War Within requires a specified number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of an item level upgrade's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high dependent on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to do. This is due to the variety of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item.

Item level is a widely used measurement of power and is visible on all tooltips for items. It is also used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can use since PvP is not available at a lower level. Players can see their average item level in their character sheet.

When deciding to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the levels of the item. It's a good gauge of an item's worth and the amount of damage it is capable of causing. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done by using the level of the item.

The level of the item can be checked by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It is also accessible by hovering an item with the mouse cursor, and then typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are several theories about how the item level is calculated. One theory suggests that the item level is calculated by a formula that calculates the value of the stats of an item really are. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth, and also that gems in sockets increase the overall value of the item. This can result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is often very close to Blizzards actual level of the item.

This isn't the only factor that affects the value of an item. The location of where the item was dropped can alter its stats. For example it can increase the item upgrader's haste or crit rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher ilvl.

Item Stats

The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game utilizes them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to motivate players to explore other weapons. The stat modifications of an weapon increase the base stats. These stat mods are then increased by a player's skill.

Item upgrades add to that by increasing certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. For example, a grey or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare tiers can be upgraded many times, at higher costs.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage, special abilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs) or to differentiate them by naming them.

All affixes can be being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. These can be used as upgrade gauges, just like the other rerolling methods.

In addition to rerolling affixes, players can also choose which stats to be kept on an item after it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the level of the item, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it's a unique item or the result of a God roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. But as with base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis and the item compare interface would not display all the possible stats either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player can increase the likelihood of locating items, the properties that are spawned by loot and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly useful for early game runs, since players tend to prioritize weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each item level. These can also be enhanced by using anti-materials like a Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Armor, shields and weapons come with a default Luck value of 40. These items can then be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon can also be crafted to increase the damage of any skill that is able to deal damage by 5%. These items are available in the shops or made with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be costly and not all upgrades will succeed. However, there are cash shop items which allow players to increase their success rate or prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of successfully upgrading the item and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased as much, and the likelihood that the upgrade item will fail cannot exceed 100%.

The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the luck of that item. All items have a base success rate of 25%, and every item that has Luck increases the chance of success by 5percent.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the inventory items therefore enchantment glints and other effects may be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
