WoW Upgrades - The item upgrades Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. The Item level Upgrade used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

You can upgrade item your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.

The cost of upgrading will be based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar Best item upgrader, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases with the number of items being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete specific achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as a drawback.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was modified a bit, and several new features added. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies even if those items come from a different set of gear.

The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is affixed to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.

Crests

When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a variety of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used on equipment of a particular rank, and each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get lower-level gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. For example, once an item reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one use therefore it's essential to use them wisely. For instance, it's a good idea to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade gear you have available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to make. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
